Nail Surgery

Most nail pathologies can be managed conservatively by a podiatrist. However, there may be a time when conservative treatment becomes less effective in managing an ingrown toe nail, or the nail may be damaged either through trauma or disease and require partial of total removal (avulsion) in order to resolve the problem.

You will be fully assessed prior to any surgical procedure to ascertain your suitability to the procedure, local anaesthetic and the post-operative healing process to optimise your treatment outcomes.

Both partial and total nail avulsions are undertaken under local anaesthesia and may require chemical ablation of the affected nail matrix to prevent reoccurrence of the problem.

The full procedure will be explained during pre-operative assessment
